I absolutely cannot believe that January is almost over! We've been very busy around the classroom. The kids have settled into the routines and are working hard. It shows in the quality and quantity of work being done. One big change I made over winter break is that we now have standing desks in our room. I am excited that the students are getting more movement throughout the day. It also seems to be helping with alertness and on task behavior.
One major focus in our class right now is preparing for the science fair. Each table group has come up with a question on their own to test and record. They will then be creating displays to be featured at this year's science fair. One of the requirements was that they use items that they have at home or they can easily obtain. So, they might come home with some strange requests.

Dog Show 2016
Hello parents of Mrs. Aster's 3rd grade class! The last couple of
months, I've had the joy and privilege of working with your children
as a student teacher under Mrs. Aster's tutelage. I taught several
math lessons on rounding, tables, and word problems and also assisted
during other subjects, such as reading, social studies, and writing.
Working with such a bright, hard-working and delightful group of
children was inspiring. Thank you for sharing them!
Sincerely,
Laurie Davala
